Ying

NAME: Ying Starr

RACE: Dragon

PLANET OF ORIGIN: Unknown

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Ying is a long, lean, scaly green and yellow dragon with five toes on each foot. He has two prominent horns on his head and smaller ones across his spine.

PERSONALITY TRAITS: Ying is outgoing and chipper, with a knack for getting into trouble without meaning to. He’s good-hearted and kind and likes to please others, especially Rei. Ying loves to nap, eat, and flirt with pretty ladies of all species and types. He has a rich fantasy world in his dreams, and he likes to imagine that he is magical and powerful.

HISTORY OF HOW YING MET REI: When Ying opened his eyes at the first moment that he could remember of his life, Rei was there looking overtired and grumpy in a space hospital by his side (see Rei’s profile for how he rescued Ying from an asteroid). He remembered his first name when he woke up, and that was it. He has been bonded to Rei ever since, and applied for Starr to be officially his last name. As of last year, it was added to his public records. Ying sometimes wonders how he came to that asteroid and why he was injured. He wonders who his real family is and if he will ever find them. But then it becomes overwhelming, and he decides to tackle Rei from behind a comic shelf or some other playful nonsense. He doesn’t like to get too gloomy.

About thecomicverse

Steve Peters received a Xeric Grant in 1996, which he used to self-publish Awakening Comics. In 2006, he won the Gene Day Memorial Prize for a magical realist comic called Chemistry. He met Bianca Alu-Marr at an open mic in 2003 (Steve was playing music and doing the sound, Bianca was reading her poetry). The Comicverse is one of many projects they have collaborated on, and their most popular. Bianca is the writer and and Steve is the artist. Sometimes Bianca writes and plots the stories; many stories are co-plotted by Bianca and Steve.
