Encyclopedia Akashica: Varials

RACE: Varial

PLANET OF ORIGIN:  Unknown.  Varials do not currently have a home planet, although their elders say they “were born in the silver pools on a nearby moon many eons ago.”

SOLAR SYSTEM: Unknown.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:   Varials are blob-like creatures that can transform into any shape that captures their fancy.

They are a voracious species that overdoes most of the activities that they participate in. Varials are gregarious and outgoing and they like to socialize, but they kind of remind one of an embarrassing relative on vacation; too loud and not very self aware.

REPRODUCTION:  Varials reproduce through a process known as “splitosis,” during which they split off a piece of themselves and incubate it for four months. After that, the young live where they please and learn from the environment around them.

About thecomicverse

Steve Peters received a Xeric Grant in 1996, which he used to self-publish Awakening Comics. In 2006, he won the Gene Day Memorial Prize for a magical realist comic called Chemistry. He met Bianca Alu-Marr at an open mic in 2003 (Steve was playing music and doing the sound, Bianca was reading her poetry). The Comicverse is one of many projects they have collaborated on, and their most popular. Bianca is the writer and and Steve is the artist. Sometimes Bianca writes and plots the stories; many stories are co-plotted by Bianca and Steve.
